Zürich is one of the most popular cities in Switzerland. It is located in the northern-central part of Switzerland next to German boarder hence why the official language here in this region is German.
Surrounded by the famous Zürich lake and Swiss Alps this city is a perfect for those love nature like me! The best thing I love about Zürich is the Limmat river which runs through the centre part of the city so nearly everywhere you go every streets every corners you can see the river everywhere!
Zürich is quite a small town compared to other major cities in Europe, one whole day here is probably enough as most things to enjoy here is from river, lake, mountain ranges, and other nature wonders. Unless you want to go up Üetliberg mountain (about 1 hr away from Zürich) then you probably want to spend a night or two here.
1. ZÜRICH MAIN STATION (ZÜRICH Hauptbahnhof [HBF])
Arriving from Zürich can be done easily through France or German boarders. I took a direct train/bus from Munich (4hr+) to come here. The main bus stop is also next to the railway station so the first place you will arrive is this main Zürich railway station which the call it Zürich HB. The station itself is something worth seeing as there are many shops/ restaurants and other currency exchange counter here (they use Swiss Franc here which is a slightly more expensive than Euro).
Tips: While travelling in most German-speaking countries, the term ‘HB’, ‘Hbf’ or ‘Hauptbhanhof’ is often used. it literally means ‘main station’ and is one of the most important places to note on the map as it is the place where you want to go to get on the main bus/train to other cities, countries.
2. CITY CENTRE AND SURROUNDINGS
The main destination I would suggest you to go first is to walk towards the southern part of the city where the river ends and become lake Zürich. This will can take you about 20-45 minutes or the whole day depending of your pace and if you want to stop and visit any shops along the way. By doing this route you will get to pass the main city centre and see all the main buildings here.

3. LAKE ZÜRICH
From the train station keep heading towards the South part of the city until the end of the road where the river ends and become Zürich Lake!
All I can say is I really do love this beautiful city. I am impressed by how big the nature this small city has to offer. If you do have a chance to visit Switzerland please do stop by this city and I am sure you will love and enjoy this city as much as I do!
Keep on travelling, keep on smiling!
